Michigan won’t be going bowling for the first time in 33 years. This type of historically bad season might lead a proud program to fire its head coach, only Michigan can’t exactly do that, considering they fired Lloyd Carr last year and brought in Rich Rodriguez for big bucks amid much fanfare. And then they signed him to a contract with a $4 million buyout barely over a week ago! Big Blue fans must be feeling blue right about now.
(As a non-partisan observer, it looks like that game at Purdue was quite something, with a hook-and-lateral game-winner late in the 4th. Too bad it was on Big Ten Network and no one saw it. Anyway, go watch the online highlights at the link.)
Florida States takes over the distinction of having the football team with the most consecutive bowl bids at 26, and it doesn’t get easier for the Wolverines as they play at Minnesota, Northwestern, and at Ohio State to close out the year–could they go 2-10? More here and here.
